Capital Ambition

Trucost was commissioned by Capital Ambition to measure and reduce the carbon footprint associated with GBP 8 billion of London’s public procurement.

Capital Ambition is London’s Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnership, supporting local authorities and their partners by identifying and delivering efficiencies and major improvements in services to transform local government delivery.

Trucost was commissioned by Capital Ambition to measure and reduce the carbon footprint associated with GBP 8 billion of London’s public procurement. The initiative analysed 120,000 suppliers across 32 London Borough Councils, the City of London and London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority. Carbon emissions are not just an environmental issue, they also reflect a real cost to business, so it was also important for Capital Ambition that the programme would provide cost savings. In addition to measuring the supply chain footprint Trucost also:

  • Provided tailored reports to participant organisations and their suppliers, identifying opportunities to reduce the footprint and achieve associated cost savings
  • Provided Capital Ambition with carbon ratio impacts to supplement their central contracts register, enabling ongoing management of the carbon associated with public procurement.
