The Challenge
Leicestershire Council wanted to:
- Calculate their supply chain carbon emissions in order to meet National Indicator 185.
- Identify suppliers with the greatest contribution to the footprint without ignoring lower impact suppliers.
The Solution
Trucost calculated the carbon emissions of each supplier that were attributable to their activities with the Council and then suppliers in providing data appropriate for the National Indicator 185 submission.
Following this analysis Trucost produced a final report which included:
- A completed National Indicator 185 spreadsheet.
- Detailed methodology in order to provide evidence to DECC that the Council had approached its National Indicator 185 requirements in a systematic, relevant and accurate manner.
The Results
Leicestershire was able to meet the National Indicator 185 deadline and implement an environmentally focused strategy to help guide future procurement decisions.
