Sprint Nextel commissioned Trucost to:
Trucost appended a mix of verified and modelled carbon emissions data to Sprint Nextel’s purchase ledger information to produce the supply chain footprint. Using advanced environmental profiling techniques Trucost was able to calculate Sprint's complete carbon footprint. This allowed identification of the suppliers most significant to Sprint’s environmental footprint and highlighted those which offered the most potential for emissions reduction.
Trucost’s research identified three sectors which contributed over 90% of the Sprint Nextel's total supply chain carbon footprint and over 90% of expenditure. The results also highlighted how Sprint Nextel’s supply chain carbon emissions are concentrated in a small proportion of companies, with 5 suppliers accounting for 58% of the total footprint.
