"Trucost is embarking on a ground-breaking project to measure and reduce the carbon footprint associated with 8billion GBP and 120,000 suppliers across London’s public procurement."

Supply Chain Footprint

For most organisations, the environmental impacts associated with their suppliers are significantly greater than the environmental impacts generated by operations that they own or control. By identifying high risk environmental impacts and environmentally intensive suppliers, Trucost can help organisations efficiently manage risk from environmental issues and improve efficiency.

Creating a hot spot report

By combining your purchase ledger information with information about your suppliers' business activities, Trucost can quickly create a hot-spot report identifying suppliers that are responsible for the majority of a supply chain footprint: experience tells us that around 10% of your suppliers will be responsible for around 90% of your footprint. Trucost will provide a footprint result that is weighted to expenditure level, as well as measuring the overall environmental impact of each supplier.

Using a hot spot report

Based on the analysis and rankings supplied by Trucost in the hot spot report, organisations can identify which suppliers to engage with directly on their most significant environmental issues.

Engaging with your suppliers

Trucost has developed an advanced data collection portal, TruMetrics, to facilitate the collection and aggregation of data across multiple suppliers. Trucost manages the entire process of data collection, working with suppliers to ensure they are able to provide accurate information quickly, with minimum disruption to their operations. Each supplier receives their own Environmental Self Assessment report, quantifying their footprint and offering practical advice on how to reduce the footprint and drive cost savings through their operations.

Identifying cost savings

Trucost will rank this group of suppliers according to their environmental footprint and the organisation's expenditure with them in order to facilitate better informed procurement decisions, leading to cost savings and efficiency improvements.
