Loan Book Footprint

By identifying companies within a loan portfolio whose environmental efficiency is below the sector average, Trucost helps banks to manage risk from environmental issues and support companies as they take steps to improve the efficiency of their operations.

Creating a hot spot report

With only a list of loan book clients and loan values, Trucost is able to create a hot-spot report identifying those organisations that are responsible for the majority of a bank's overall loan book footprint. Trucost's footprint report measures the environmental impacts of each client and then weights this according to loan value. This enables the bank to focus its attention on the clients with the largest impacts and those which pose most risk.

Using a hot spot report

Based on the analysis and rankings supplied by Trucost in this hot-spot report, a bank will have a better understanding of the relative environmental performance of its clients and can identify which clients to engage with directly.

Engaging with your clients

Having identified areas of carbon and resource intensity across a loan book through the hot-spot report, a bank can determine which clients to engage with. Engaging with clients regarding their environmental impacts is a positive way to drive efficiency improvements and demonstrate responsible credentials to stakeholders.

Capturing environmental data

Trucost has developed a secure online portal, TruMetrics, to facilitate the collection and aggregation of site or project specific data. Trucost manages the entire process of data collection, working with the financed entities to ensure they are able to provide accurate information quickly, with minimum disruption to their operations. Each client receives their own Environmental Self Assessment Report, offering practical steps to reduce their footprints.

Identifying opportunities

Trucost will rank this group of clients according to their environmental footprint and the bank's loan value in order to inform further loan negotiations and identify financing opportunities.
