Dr. Stephen Farber is the Director
of Environmental Policy Studies, Director of the Public and Urban Affairs
programme, and a Professor at the Graduate School of Public and International
Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh.
He has served on advisory committees for coastal management, watershed
management, regional sewer and waste treatment, and urban sustainability
programs. He has been a consultant to the Louisiana state government on
environmental policy issues, including hazardous waste management, industrial
tax exemptions and environmental scorecards for firms, costs and benefits
of environmental enhancements, and comparative risk.
He has been an advisor to NOAA on topics including global change and coastal
resources, prioritisation of wetlands projects, and to the US EPA on market-based
incentives for air pollution control. He has been a contributor to the
US Forest Service's Ecological Stewardship program and to the World Bank's
Green National Accounting workshop. His research interests are in valuing
natural systems and incorporating those values in public and private environmental
management decisions.
