23rd February 2004 - Dr. Robert Repetto joins Trucost Advisory Panel

London, Monday 23rd February 2004. Trucost is delighted to announce that Dr. Robert Repetto has agreed to become a member of its Advisory Panel. As a member Dr. Repetto, Professor in Economics of Sustainable Development at Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, will be joining other leading academics in the fields of economics and the environment, including the panel coordinator Dr. Robert Constanza, Director of the Gund Institute of Ecological Economics and Gund Professor of Ecological Economics at the Univeristy of Vermont. Dr. Constanza was co-founder and former president of the International Society for Ecological Economics (ISEE).

The International Advisory Panel assists Trucost in the ongoing development of its methodology and meets regularly to discuss issues such as the input-output model that is a key aspect of the methodology behind Trucost's products. The panel are meeting on 21st and 22nd May this year in Vermont, USA, where Dr. Repetto will be formally introduced.

Dr. Repetto's area of expertise is environmental and resource economics and he has an M.Sc. from London School of Economics and a PhD from Harvard University. From 1998 to 2000, he held a Pew Fellowship in Marine Conservation at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Until 1998 he was vice president and senior economist at the World Resources Institute in Washington, DC, where he authored numerous books and monographs on environmental policy.

He has served on EPA's Science Advisory Board and National Advisory Council on Environmental Policy and Technology, on the National Research Council's Board on Sustainable Development and on many NRC committees. Dr. Repetto has been a professor at the Harvard School of Public Health, a World Bank official working in Indonesia, an economic advisor in Bangladesh, a Ford Foundation staff economist in India, and an economic analyst in the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

He is currently a senior advisor at Stratus Environmental Consulting, Inc. in Boulder, Colorado. His work has been honoured by the Society for Conservation Biology and the British Medical Association. His recent work on environment and finance was awarded the Moskowitz Prize for 2000.
